Girl of 10 struck by car

A 10-year-old girl was injured today when she was hit by a car in a Kent village.

The accident happened in Minster Road, Halfway, on Sheppey.

Residents have been campaigning for several months to get the speed reduced in the busy built-up area.

The youngster was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital at Gillingham for treatment.

A police spokesman said: "The girl is from Minster and she received a bump to her head and is in shock.

"The woman driver of the car, a Renault Megane, was not injured but she was also shocked. She also comes from Minster."
