Four teenage girls stormed a planning meeting - brandishing cans of lager, swearing and intimidating councillors.

Police had to be called when havoc broke out at Deal Town Hall.

The girls began sitting in councillors’ seats and holding their own mock meeting as plans for amendments to the Wetherspoon's application for a pub in the town were discussed.

Police officers spoke to the girls, three aged 15 and one aged 16, but no arrests were made.

Cllr Wayne Elliott said: "Four young ladies, aged about 15 or 16 came into the chamber carrying cans of lager and it seemed they’d had a lot to drink already.

"They started using foul language and when the premises officer asked them to leave they became even more abusive.

"They told us we didn’t know what young people wanted and we didn’t provide anything for them to do in the town."
