Girl hit by jet skier

JET skiers on Sheppey have been criticised following an incident in which a teenage girl was injured.

They are accused of ignoring council signs informing them not to launch from a ramp at Barton's Point, Minster, where the accident happened on Sunday afternoon. Nick Rush, a fisherman who witnessed the accident, said: "This young lad came in at full pelt and jumped off the jet ski and it just went into this girl who was sitting in a rubber ring about eight or ten feet away from the shore.

"They laid her in the recovery position and she had blood coming from her nose. There were jet skiers weaving in and out of swimmers."

The injured 14-year-old girl, from Bexley, was taken to hospital but was not seriously injured.

Simon Farrow, Swale council's recreation and amenities officer, is having talks with Medway Port officials about the incident.
