Girl, 17, punched in road rage attack

A TEENAGE girl was left with a cut and swollen face after an apparent road rage attack by a couple in a red Ford Escort. The 17-year-old was driving home from work when she overtook the Escort at the Chestfield roundabout on the outskirts of Tankerton.

When she stopped at a railway bridge the car came up behind her and followed her into town. The H-reg Escort blocked her in at St Anne's Road and a young girl passenger got out and punched her in the face. The black male driver, 6ft and in his early twenties, also got out and slapped the terrified girl.

The girl in the attack at 10.40am on Tuesday, March 12, is thought to be about 15 years old, 5ft with mousy hair worn in a ponytail. She wore a white T-shirt and denim jacket and lots of jewellery. The man wore a dark-coloured baseball cap and dark short-sleeved T-shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to phone DC Stuart Rush at Canterbury CID, 01227 817154.
