Manager Mark Stimson is likely to make a number of changes as Gillingham entertain Championship side Plymouth on Tuesday night in the Carling Cup first round.

Striker Mark McCammon (pictured), wide man Chris Palmer and keeper Simon Royce will all be hoping Stimson gives them a chance after they were named as substitutes against Swindon in League 1 at the weekend.

Midfielder Kevin Maher will also be pushing for a return as he tries to shake off an ankle injury.

Paul Sturrock’s Plymouth side drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace on Saturday and, despite the challenge ahead, Stimson knows he must make changes in a bid to keep his slender squad ticking over.

Stimson said: "We will change the team because of the bodies we’ve got.

"We can look at other people and see if they are going to be ready for the season we’ve got ahead because we need to test a few to see if they can stand up to the competition.

"There will be two or three changes, if not more, to the starting line-up for Tuesday."
