Gills' losing streak continues

Gillingham 0 Bournemouth 1

GILLINGHAM slipped to a disappointing home defeat to Bournemouth in League 1 on Saturday.

The winner came seven minutes before the break when Ian Cox allowed Sam Vokes to get the wrong side of him before the teenage striker kept his composure to round Dean Brill and score.

Gillingham improved in the second half and came desperately close to an equaliser on the hour when full-back Duncan Jupp's volley from the edge of the area slammed back off the crossbar.

Bournemouth keeper Neil Moss did brilliantly to keep out an efforts from winger Matt Jarvis and substitute Danny Spiller as the Gills threw everything at their opponents.

But the visitors weren't to be denied their first away win of the season and could even have extended their lead at the death as Brett Pitman twice struck the post.

Gillingham Brill, Jupp, Cox, Sancho, Jackman, Bentley, Crofts, Flynn, Jarvis, Ndumbu-Nsungu (Spiller h-t), Mulligan.
Subs not used: Chorley, Johnson, Pouton, Savage.
Attendance: 6,296.
