KELVIN JACK: alerted the referee's attention to the situation

GILLINGHAM Football Club manager Ronnie Jepson has backed Rotherham’s decision to impose a lifetime ban on a supporter who racially abused the Kent side's goalkeeper Kelvin Jack.

The game ended in a 3-2 defeat for Gillingham but the start of the second half was delayed after Jack alerted referee Steve Bratt's attention to the situation.

Mr Jepson said: "It was scandalous. Kelvin was big enough and man enough to not get involved anymore and let the authorities deal with it, which I’m really pleased they did."

The banned fan was a supporter of the Yorkshire club.
