Gillingham’s FA Cup third round match at Accrington on Saturday has been called off due to heavy snow.

Referee Andy Penn inspected Accrington’s Crown Ground this morning, just after 10am, and deemed the conditions unplayable.

Snow is expected to continue in the area for the rest of the day and conditions were forecast to get no better.

Freezing temperatures overnight had already left the pitch in a precarious state.

The third round tie is now expected to take place next Tuesday on January 12.

Both teams will now be in the draw for the FA Cup fourth round which takes place on ITV at around 6.15pm.
