Gillingham's pre-season friendly at Calais gets go-ahead

Gillingham's proposed pre-season trip to Calais is going ahead despite the French club going into liquidation.

A newly-formed team, of lesser stature, will now take on the Gills in France on Saturday, July 17.

Gillingham won’t, however, be heading for the impressive municipal stadium on the outskirts of town as they did last year, but instead will be at the club’s former venue the Stade Julien Denis.

Meanwhile, fans will have to wait until the eve of the League 2 season before being able to purchase the new replica kit.

Gillingham will be playing in a blue and black striped shirt this season, with a red and black combination for away games and a yet-to-be seen white kit as a third option.

The exact date of availability is unknown but is likely to be in the first week of August.
