Adebayo Akinfenwa drew a blank against his former club on Saturday - but has vowed revenge.

Akinfenwa, pictured taking on the Northampton defence, spent two and a half years at Sixfields and last season hit 17 goals for them.

He said: "It was good to be back but I did want them to lose. I still have a soft spot for Northampton and on one hand I was glad for them, but disappointed for us.

"When Northampton come to our ground I’ll get them back."

It was a frustrating day for Akinfenwa and his team-mates as the search for an away win this season goes on.

"We are trying to get this away performance right because it’s starting to get frustrating," he said.

"For the first 10 to 30 minutes we came out with a game plan and it started to work. Then (Dean) Beckwith had a great header and it kind of sucked the life out of us.

"The mood is not nice at the moment. Whenever you are losing it’s not nice but we are professionals and we have to get out there on the training ground and put it right."
