Peterborough’s attacking midfielder Whelpdale (pictured), 24, was a fans’ favourite during his brief spell with the Gills on loan in November last year.

He scored three goals in four appearance and helped turn the Gills’ poor start to the season around.

Whelpdale moved to Peterborough from Billericay and went on to make 143 apperances for the London Road club and enjoyed back-to-back promotions in 2008 and 2009.

Gillingham-born Kedwell moves from newly-promoted AFC Wimbledon, where he captained the side to promotion from the Blue Square Premier last season.

The 27-year-old has been the leading scorer with Wimbledon for the last two seasons and scored the winning penalty in the promotion play-off final shoot-out against Luton last season.

Experienced and no-nonsense defender Frampton, 31, arrives predominantly to play centre-half. He has been at Millwall since 2007 but finished last season on loan at Swindon.

Midfielder Lewis Montrose is 22 and has been on the books of Wycombe Wanderers for the last two seasons, where during the last campaign he was a key player as the club secured promotion from League 2.

Flitney and Fish were both at Dover last season and arrive despite Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler distancing himself from a move for the duo earlier on in the close season.

Both players were signed for Dover by Hessenthaler while he was at Crabble as manager.

Goalkeeper Flitney, 27, began as a trainee at Arsenal and moved to Fulham as back-up keeper. He had loan spells at Doncaster and Brighton before moving to Barnet.

At Barnet he played in the same team as Hessenthaler, assistant boss Ian Hendon and Gills favourite Simon King.

He stands at 6ft 3inch and is renowned for his kicking abilities. He kept a clean sheet for Dover when they came to Priestfield last season and won 2-0 in the FA Cup.

Attacking right-back Fish, who started as a youngster at Crystal Palace, will give captain Barry Fuller competition. He was an ever-present for Dover last season, clocking up 50 appearances for the non-league club.
