Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has distanced himself from reports linking him with Peterborough’s left-sided defender Shane Blackett.

Newly promoted Posh are keen to off-load a number of players this summer, and although Stimson admitted he had enquired about Blackett, he won’t be taking the interest further while money is involved.

Stimson said: “Peterborough sent out a list of 12 players who were available and I rang up about a couple of them. Straight away I was told there was a fee involved and so I said that wasn’t for us.

“We’ve probably already got one of the best left-footed centre halves in the league in Simon King.”
