Gillingham manager Martin Allen concerned with next game rather than thinking about being five points clear

Gillingham moved five points clear at the top of League 2 on Saturday but all manager Martin Allen is concerned about is the club's next game.

The 1-0 win at AFC Wimbledon at the weekend and defeat for second-placed Port Vale allowed Allen’s men to give themselves clear breathing space at the top.

It’s a position the Gills have occupied now for two whole months but Allen (pictured) isn’t concerned about positions and points.

"It’s irrelevant to me," he said. "I just prepare the team, play the game, try and win and get as many points as we can as quick as we can.

"To me, without being boring, it doesn’t matter. The thing that matters now is to get them ready for this FA Cup game next Saturday and then we play Cheltenham on Tuesday. That’s all I think of."
