Myles Weston returned for Gillingham on Saturday after a five-game absence.

He was one of several players who managed to shake off injury doubts to help the Gills beat Accrington and boss Martin Allen was delighted to have the winger, who came on as a second-half substitute, pictured, back.

Allen said: “He only trained for one day and he will need a few days training to get him up to match speed. There is no doubt over the Easter weekend he is going to have an important part to play.

“We know Myles makes and scores goals, he is a match winner. We have missed him.”

The Gills had picked up several knocks in the midweek draw at Rochdale but only Bradley Dack was left sidelined.

Allen said: “Brad has got a sore ankle. Westy had an injection on Tuesday and so I thought he would be fit. Charlie Lee was okay on Friday and Chris Whelpdale trained and so he was okay.

“It was good for Charlie Allen to get 70 minutes. There were a few knocks, but it was nice to have them all back."

The Gills have a reserve game on Tuesday to give a run-out to those who need minutes on the pitch.
