Gillingham boss Mark Stimson knows his players will have no excuses if they fail to make it to the fourth round of the FA Cup on Tuesday night.

Accrington are 11th in League 2 and stand between Gillingham and a big cup pay-out against Premier League Fulham in the next round.

Stimson, pictured, said: “The players have all been there and they know what it's going to be like. There is a massive prize if you win.

“The squad we have got should be good enough to beat Accrington Stanley.

“We aren’t playing Swindon, who are sitting in the play-offs in Division 1, we are playing a team top 10 in Division 2. We’ve been there last season and won and there is no reason we can’t again.

“The pitch won’t be good and that’s the way it always is at Accrington, but you have to get on with that. If you are a player, or think you are a player, that shouldn’t be a problem as your technique should be better than theirs.

“I hope whoever gets the shirt on Tuesday night wears it with pride, helps us get that first away win and a great cup draw at home to Fulham.”

It will be Gillingham’s third attempt to play the game after two postponements. Weather is again causing problems to Accrington’s Crown Ground and Saturday’s home match with Rotherham was called off because of a waterlogged pitch.
