Midfielder Jack Payne drew praise from Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler after another impressive performance against Bradford.

Payne (pictured) ran the show in midfield for Gillingham with a display full of energy, neat passing and tackling.

"He has been our best player again by a country mile," said Hessenthaler. "He is 18-years-old and he worked his socks off.

"He was very good on the ball, he was phenomenal again and had a terrific game."

Hessenthaler also felt it was unfair to judge Stanley Aborah on his first 13 minutes in a Gillingham shirt, although the forward nearly scored the winner for Gills late on.

"We got Stanley on and changed it around a bit," added Hessenthaler. "He has got some quality, but it was difficult for him with the amount of time he was on to get into the game."

Hessenthaler confirmed that Aborah, along with Dennis Oli, is likely to feature for Gillingham’s reserves away to Aldershot on Tuesday.
