Gillingham hope to have an answer from midfielder Kevin Maher imminently.

Maher moved to Oldham last summer, despite plenty of interest from Stimson, and now he is back from his holiday the Gills will be hoping to get an answer.

Stimson said: "I’ve spoken to him a couple of times and I’m sure we’ll hear something by the end of the week and hopefully we’ll get him signed and maybe one other player."

Maher made seven appearances for the Gills at the end of the 2007/08 season on a loan deal from Southend.
