Gillingham will give a trial to Welling defender Jack Obersteller during their pre-season game at Bromley on Saturday.

Obersteller, pictured, has spent the week training with the Gills and has impressed enough for the Gills to request he plays some part in the game at Hayes Lane.

Welling boss Jamie Day has stated that he will not stand in the way of any of his squad who wish to play in the Football League.

However, the Wings will require a transfer fee for the 22-year-old who is under contract at Park View Road.

Obersteller started his career at Millwall and has spent time at Wycombe, Grays and Exeter before he joined the Wings in November 2009.

He has since developed into an impressive left-back, providing plenty of attacking options down the flank in Day's side. He featured 42 times for Welling last season, and impressed Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler and coach Nicky Southall when they watched him play against Ebbsfleet in March.
