Gillingham fans confident of victory over Port Vale

Gillingham fans are in a confident mood ahead of Torquay's visit to Priestfield on Saturday. All three of our panelists think the Gills will hit three goals and take maximum points.

MALCOM SMITH

(Grimsby)

"I’m hoping that this weekend could see the beginning of an unbeaten run. Two wins in three games without defeat would breed confidence and with a potentially winnable away game at Northampton the following week - maybe, just maybe. I can’t see anything other than a win tomorrow (Saturday) but saying all that, there is still the realist in me that just knows it could all go horribly wrong!"

Prediction: Gills 3 Torquay 0

"It’s probably a good thing we’re playing another decent team on Saturday – as we seem to fill that cliche of playing better against the higher sides. The point and resilience shown against Vale is a good thing to build on. With the return (hopefully) of at least one of our strikers, we should be able to add penetration to the new found solidity of the defence, post Accy.

With a decreasing injury list and better competition for places, hopefully it will force players to keep upping their game. If Cody Mac returns, I’m being bold with my prediction. Two goals from Cody and one from Palmer (pictured above)."

Prediction: Gills 3 Torquay 0.

JIM STAPLES

(Greenwich)

"Returning to Priestfield, particularly on the back of a spirited performance at Vale Park, I expect most Gills fans will be looking at the game as a home win. It would be so disappointing to drop points and not build on what was a fantastic point.

Torquay – winning their opening four games but none since – started the season on fire but have stuttered of late.

With Akinfenwa and McDonald (pictured left)possibly back in contention, it will be interesting to see if the Gills starting XI remains the same. I’m hopeful we go with two up-front and take the game to the opposition. If we do that, I think we’ll be too strong for Torquay."

Prediction: Gills 3 Torquay 1

STEVE BREED

(Torquay fan)

"We’ve played pretty well in our last three games but just not had our rewards. At the back we started the season well but we’ve been conceding silly goals recently.

Our problem has been at home and the away form has been OK. We’ve only lost once away and we battered Crewe on our last trip. We were 3-1 up before giving away a silly penalty and the game ended 3-3.

I’d like to think we’re a decent passing side, so I’m hoping for a decent game and fancy an entertaining 2-2 draw.

We’re hoping our current run of results is just a blip and I’ll be happy for a finish halfway up the league this season.

I can’t see us being down there with the likes of Hereford and Barnet."

Prediction: Gills 2 Torquay 2
