Martin Allen and the Gills team are desperate for the game at Rochdale on Saturday to go ahead.

The Gills are set for an early start on Friday but there are doubts that the game will go ahead. Snow was covering the Rochdale pitch in the early part of the week and freezing conditions are forecast right up until kick-off.

Gillingham are keen to bounce back from last weekend’s 2-1 defeat at home to Port Vale.

"Everyone wants it on without a shadow of a doubt," said Gills boss Allen. "You can tell everyone wants to play, there is an edge."

Medway escaped the worst of the wintry weather, enabling Allen’s men to get in plenty of practice and the Gills boss has been pleased with the squad’s attitude in training.

He said: "Nobody flinches out of training and for some reason none of our players seem to have a day off from training. They always seem to be training, it is rare anybody gets a cold and doesn’t train. Everyone is always training and that’s a good sign as well."
