Loan defender Tom Flanagan could be recalled for Gillingham's game against Cheltenham on Tuesday after being rested at the weekend.

Flanagan, pictured, picked up a slight thigh strain in the win at AFC Wimbledon last month and boss Martin Allen decided not to risk him for the FA Cup victory over Scunthorpe.

Allen said: "I knew I had Callum Davies so it wasn’t a problem.

"He was rested because we have two games in three days. He was rested to make sure his thigh will be all right and doesn’t get any worse."

But Flanagan faces a challenge to get back into the team after a solid performance from Davies on Saturday.

Allen said: "Would anyone have known he was 19? What a fantastic player and what a future for this club with these players coming through. Mark Patterson (development manager) and Darren Hare (youth manager) deserve a lot of credit."

Bradley Dack is out with an ankle injury, while Joe Martin and Charlie Allen remain sidelined with broken hands.
