Gillingham defender John Nutter has signed a new one year contract with the club.

The 26-year-old was a key member of Mark Stimson’s promotion winning side last season after featuring in 54 games.

Last week Nutter (pictured right) underwent a hernia operation in an attempt to fix a long-standing injury.

He said: "The stitches are still a bit sore but I should be back in time for pre-season training."

Nutter’s one year deal will be extended to two if he appears in a certain amount of games next season.

The Gills are now awaiting news on Simon Royce, Luis Cumbers and Andy Pugh who were also offered new one year deals.
