Luton Town have confirmed that Connor Essam is staying when them for another month.

Essam’s loan deal with the Blue Square Bet Premier side from Gillingham expired on Saturday.

The central defender played 90 minutes for Luton as they beat Southport 3-1 to move up to fourth in the division.

He was signed as cover for former Gills defender Garry Richards, who is injured.

Essam (pictured) has found himself down the pecking order at Gillingham under boss Martin Allen, who has instead favoured the defender’s friend Callum Davies in the side.

Since moving to Luton Essam has played six games for them, although four have been as a substitute.
