Gillingham are facing a mini-injury crisis with just two weeks to go before the season kicks off.

Captain Barry Fuller, pictured, could miss the season opener after limping out of Saturday’s 2-1 win at Ebbsfleet and front-man Dennis Oli has been ruled out for up to six weeks with a torn hamstring.

Early diagnosis suggests Fuller has medial knee ligament damage.

Manager Andy Hessenthaler has yet to see defender Garry Richards or striker Mark McCammon in action, as both are still returning from injury, while new signing Cody McDonald has a damaged foot.

Highly-rated trialist Stanley Aborah, a former Ajax man with Champions League experience, limped off at Bishop’s Stortford on Friday night and looks unlikely to get the chance to win a deal with the Gills.

With the opening league game against Cheltenham on August 7, Hessenthaler faces an anxious wait to see who can make it in time.

"It does concern me," he said. "Every team gets injuries and you have to deal with it. We’ll try and deal with it the right way.

"If we can get these players back then great, but if it’s going to take time then we need to work with the boys who are fit and see where we go."
