Skipper Andy Frampton apologised to Gillingham’s strikeforce after allowing Northampton back into the game on Saturday.

Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler revealed that Frampton (pictured), who was at fault for Northampton’s first goal, said sorry to his team-mates after the game.

"We’ve got a captain who walked in there and apologised to our forwards, saying that they got him out of jail," said Hessenthaler.

"He is an honest guy, I can work with players like that, and he felt he wasn’t on his game.

"Defensively both teams looked very loose, with some poor decision-making and it was a game that could have gone either way."
