Gillingham manager Mark Stimson will be keeping tabs on youngster Harry Pell at close quarters following his impressive performance for the Gills Reserves on Wednesday.

The Gills drew 0-0 with Brentford in the Combination League fixture at Priestfield and Pell (pictured), who was recently released by Charlton Athletic following completion of his scholarship, was included in the starting eleven.

"I knew Harry from when he was eight and I used to coach him at Charlton as a young player," said Stimson.

"He is a great size and strikes a nice ball and we are going to have a look at him for a couple of weeks. I’m sure he will get a club in the summer if not before. We’re looking at him and he doesn’t live too far from here."

Also on trial for the Gills was left-back Tom Waghorn, who has recently been released from West Brom, and is another Stimson is keen on seeing more of.

"He is a neat and tidy full-back," said the Gills boss.

Stimson fielded a strong team for the game with Simon Royce, Chris Palmer, Mark Bentley and Chris Dickson among those involved.

Gills: Royce, Payne, Gowling, Waynter, Waghorn, Pell, Bentley, Yussuff (Benniman 64mins), Dickson, Cumbers (Stimson 64mins), Palmer. Subs not used: Hawkes, Evans, Davies.
