Gillingham attack suspect charged with manslaughter

A Medway man has been charged with manslaughter after another man died after an alleged assault.

Lithuanian Saulius Klevinskas, 35, was injured in Balmoral Road, Gillingham, on Saturday, August 21.

Mr Klevinskas, who lived in Grays, Essex, suffered serious head injuries and was being treated in the intensive care unit at Medway Maritime Hospital.

He died at about 10pm on last Thursday.

Ruben White, 21, is accused of attacking Mr Klevinskas.

White, of Kingswood Road, Gillingham, was originally charged with grievous bodily harm, but has since been charged with manslaughter.

White appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court today and was remanded in custody.

The case against him was adjourned and committed to crown court.

Three other men arrested in connection with the assault have been bailed pending further inquiries.

Balmoral Road was shut for more than four hours during police investigations.
