Gillingham's reserves held Charlton Athletic's second string to a goalless draw in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Wednesday afternoon.

Tony Sinclair, Luke Rooney, Mark Bentley (pictured) and Dennis Oli were all in the Gills side which took on a youthful Addicks side.

Lance Cronin was called into action to save Tamer Tuna's long-range drive on eight minutes and did even better to deny Tosan Popo soon after.

Bentley fired a left-footed half-volley wide from 20 yards at the other end before Cronin superbly denied Tuna from close range.

Rooney fizzed a shot wide of Ross Worner's goal on the half-hour while Oli blazed two efforts off target before the break.

After the break Cronin denied Connor Morris on the hour while Rooney's shot on the turn was saved at his near post by Worner soon after.

Cronin blocked Alex Stavrinou's low drive with his feet 12 minutes from time before Worner denied Rooney at the other end as the game finished goalless.
