Friends share £106,000 bingo prize

TWO dinner ladies from Rainham shared a £106,000 bingo jackpot at the Gala Club in Chatham. Janette Read, who works at Rainham Mark School, landed the massive win during the National Bingo Game.

She kept her word to her friend and colleague Sue McNally to share any winnings.

Mrs McNally said: "At first Janette thought she had just won the £139 house prize, but when we found out we had won the regional and national games as well, we both started crying.

"We have been going to bingo together for the past year and we made a deal to split whatever either of us won two ways. I said to her that this was a lot of money, but she insisted we share it." Mrs Read, 36, had taken just 43 numbers to complete a full house, which was the fewest anywhere across the country.

"Everyone in the club was congratulating her when she won," added Mrs McNally, a mother of two. She plans to take a holiday somewhere hot with part of the cash, while Mrs Read has announced plans to help out her mother and fathewr and buy a new car.

It was the second National Bingo Game won at the Chatham club in the past five weeks. A 39-year-old mother of five scooped a total of £104, 442 on January 9.
