French strike to hit Eurostar passengers

EUROSTAR is warning of disruption to high-speed rail services on Thursday, October 18, because of industrial action by public sector workers in France.

It has announced that four services will be cancelled and other services may be subject to delay or possible short notice cancellation.

Of the four cancelled services, the only one to affect passengers from Ashford is the 9.59am departure to Paris (due to leave Waterloo at 9.09am).

The other cancellations are the 4.12pm departure from Waterloo to Paris, and the 6.22am and 5.43pm departures from Paris to Waterloo.

Eurostar is advising passengers not to travel on Thursday if at all possible. Passenger who choose not to travel will be able to exchange their tickets for travel within the next 60 days.

The industrial action is being taken just four weeks before the opening of Ebbsfleet International Station and the extended high-speed rail link, with the launch of new faster services from St Pancras International.
