A former Kent pageant queen has married the son of TV stars Coleen Nolan and Shane Richie.

Ms Wahdan is a former Miss Sandwich and Kent Carnival Queen but is well known in the wider carnival circuit in Dover district.

And now East Kent's carnival community has offered its congratulations to the couple.

John Trickey, chairman of Deal Community Carnival Association, said: "I knew her for many years and our committee offers Maddie our congratulations.

"The couple have been together for a long time.

"She has left the area so we have not been in touch for some years but she is remembered here as a lovely girl.

Eastenders actor Mr Richie and Ms Nolan were among the delighted guests.

Ms Nolan posted photos about the day on Instagram.

She said: "What can I say... a perfect day and night with family and friends celebrating my gorgeous son @iamshanenolan and now finally my beautiful daughter in Law @maddiewahdan's wedding day.

"I laughed and CRIED a lot.. a day I’ll never forget!"

Maddie Wahdan, 27, came from Mill Road in Deal and was also, from 2010 to 2014, a member of Team England in the Miss European beauty pageant.

She had been entering beauty competitions since she was a teenager and in the mid-2010s graduated in event management.

In the 2010s she also won the Face of Kent heat of the Face of the Globe international contest.

In 2014 Ms Wahdan launched her own competition, Miss Fresh Face UK pageant, with the top prize of a trip to Dubai.

Shane Richie Sr is an actor best known for his role as Alfie Moon in EastEnders, which he first took on in 2002.

Coleen Nolan first became famous in the 1970s as a child singer in her sisters' group The Nolans.

She became a regular panelist in the talk show Loose Women in 2000.

The couple were married from 1990 to 1999.
