Central defender Garry Richards has signed for ambitious Blue Square Bet Premier side Luton Town on a two year deal.

Richards (pictured) left Gillingham this summer after spending the last four years with the club and clocking up over 100 appearances.

He is the second player from last season’s Gillingham squad to join Luton, after Danny Spiller also opted for a move to Paul Buckle’s side, joining them last week.

Richards’ time with the Gills ended on a sour note after breaking his leg in the game against Barnet at Priestfield in March.

Richards tweeted: "Great to now officially be a Luton town player!! Can’t wait to get started!!"

He signed for the Gills in January 2008 after a brief spell at Southend. He had previously been with Colchester United.

He was one of eight players released by the Gills at the end of last season.
