Sitting down to watch all six Star Wars films is a slog, even for hardcore fans.

Canadian actor Charles Ross has the antidote with his intergalactic comedy One-Man Star Wars Trilogy, which he is bringing to Gravesend’s Woodville Halls.

Jumping between scenes and characters from the films and condensing them into a one-hour sketch, Charles recreates some of cinema’s most famous moments.

While Star Wars novices are welcome, at least an understanding of the movies would help.

“It’s probably worth hiring the DVDs because the better you know the films, the more you’ll enjoy it,” said Charles.

“If you haven’t seen the films at all, it will be a bit like watching a game of cricket when you don’t know the rules.”

The force has been with him from an early age, as his childhood in wintry north Canada meant he had no choice but to sit indoors and watch films.

“We had no television reception, so you had to watch what you had on video.

“We only had three movies – The Blue Lagoon starring Brooke Shields, Shogun and Star Wars – so nine times out of 10, I ended up watching Star Wars.

“A lot of times, it would just be on as background noise... I think a lot of it has gone into my head by osmosis and become committed to my memory.”

Catch One-Man Star Wars Trilogy on Thursday, April 28.
