A MAN found dead by firefighters in his home at The Ferns, Larkfield, last Thursday has been named as 75-year-old Edward Charles Mokes.

Firefighters forced their way into his house after they had been called to a fire at a neighbouring home. The blaze had apparently started in Mr Mokes’ kitchen.

An inquest has been opened and adjourned following a post mortem examination. No further details have been released by the coroner’s office and a date when the inquest will resume has not yet been set.

Kent Police are carrying out an investigation into what caused the fire.
