Fire crews answer dashboard drama call

Fire fighters were called to a minor car fire on Wednesday night at about 6.30pm.

The car was pulled into Strood Motor Company, in Gravesend Road, Rochester after smoke began escaping from under the dashboard.

The quick-thinking driver grabbed a fire extinguisher from the forecourt and managed to extinguish the burning wiring in the Fiat Brava.

By the time crews arrived there was no longer any danger and no injuries had been sustained.

A fire fighter from Strood said: "We unscrewed the dashboard and found a load of charred wires."
