Fire closes High Street store

TOPSHOP in Bromley was closed this morning following a small fire last night.

A fire in a light fitting set the sprinklers off at about 9pm last night.

A spokesman for the fashion retailer said damage was minimal.

She said: “There was some damage to a small area in the personal shopping sections but it is superficial.”

The shop had to remain closed until the sprinklers were refilled, according to health and safety regulations. Six members of staff were on the site when the fire started but no one was injured.
