Father found hanging at his home

A FATHER of two was found hanging at his house in Aylesham on Saturday.

Police were informed 52-year-old Paul Roberts, known as Robbo to his friends, had been found at his home in Cornwallis Avenue at 4.25pm.

Mr Roberts, who worked at a factory in Rochester, had separated from his wife Debbie some time ago and lived with his adult sons Chris and Russell.

A popular member of Snowdown Working Men's Club, the tragedy has shocked the village.

One villager and friend of Mr Roberts, who didn't want to be named, said: "He was very well known and very much liked. He was an active member of the Snowdown club where he played snooker on a regular basis. People are very shocked."

Speaking on behalf of the family, sister-in-law Hilda Roberts said her husband Barry was too upset to comment on his brother's death.

She said: "He was well liked, a quiet man who kept himself to himself. He had a close family and was greatly loved. He will be sadly missed."

The funeral will take place at Barham Crematorium at 10am on July 5.
