Fatal crash victim named

A CAR passenger who died after suffering severe head injuries when the vehicle crashed into a tree on Sheppey has been named.

He was Scott Turner, 20, from Dagenham, Essex, who was travelling in the front of a dark blue Jaguar when the accident happened at Sheppey Way last Wednesday at about 4.30pm.

The car left the road and ran into one of the last trees of a spinney close to Kingsferry bridge. Mr Turner was taken to Atkinson Morley Hospital in Wimbledon where he died the next day.

Police, ambulance, Kent Fire Brigade and Kent Air Ambulance were all involved in the rescue operation. Firefighters from Sheerness and Sittingbourne had to cut off the roof of the car to free the man, a woman driver and two other women.

The driver, who also suffered serious head injuries, was taken to Cambridge Hospital where she was in a stable condition. Two other casualties were taken to Medway Maritime Hospital. One, a 37-year-old woman, was suffering from a fractured sternum. The other, a 31-year-old woman, received treatment for minor cuts and bruising.
