"Why can't mum and dad just call him on the telephone and ask him to come home?"

That is the heart-breaking question posed by little Maddisson Wells, who lost her nine-year-old brother in a tragic accident near Broadstairs.

Brandon Wells was enjoying the Easter school holiday last Saturday when the bicycle he was riding collided with two cars on the A255, close to the junction of St Peter's Road and Broadley Road.

The St Joseph's Primary School pupil died at the scene from his injuries.

Brandon's family, who visited the scene this week to lay flowers, cards, cuddly toys and sweets and to set off nine balloons in his memory, paid an emotional tribute to the youngster.

His auntie, Rachelle Wells, said: "His brother and sister are so quiet and good; he was the boisterous one, running up and down the stairs, playing rough and tumble.

"The house is now unbelievably quiet. It has changed our world forever. You never expect this to happen to your family."

Richard Wells, Brandon's uncle, added: "It is completely gut-wrenching. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time and there is no ill-feeling towards the drivers of the cars.

"We would particularly like to pay tribute to the paramedics who we know did all they could for Brandon. That must be the emergency service's worst nightmare call."

Brandon had just begun keeping snakes and snails, a job that his seven-year-old brother Reiss will now take on.

He enjoyed playing football and loved riding his bike. His dad, Michael, had also bought him a moto cross bike recently.

Brandon was very particular about his hair style and his mum, Shirene, will gel his hair before his funeral next Thursday at 11.30am.

His coffin will be filled with mementoes from his family and friends, including a PSP computer game and a sealed envelope containing a letter from his girlfriend.

Prior to the funeral, a white, horse-drawn carriage will leave the Wells' family home in Livingstone Road, St Peter's, and continue on to Brandon's former school, where friends and teachers will pay their final respects.

The procession will then move on to Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church in Broadstairs for a service conducted by Father David Caine. A choir from St Joseph's Primary School plan to sing at the funeral.

Brandon will be laid to rest on Thursday afternoon at Margate cemetery.
