Family attacked in Barbados hotel by armed intruder

A teenage hero apprehended a machete wielding intruder who tried to attack his family as they enjoyed a luxury holiday in Barbados.

Redmond Lee, 13, from Maidstone and his family are considering taking action against their holiday company after the terrifying experience on the £3,000-plus holiday.

Dane Lee, 44, his wife, Benita, 45, and their two children, Redmond , 13, and Millina , 11, were shocked when an armed and masked intruder entered their holiday apartment at the Southern Palms Hotel at St Lawrence Gap in Barbados.

Mr Lee, from Maidstone, said: “We arrived at the resort on the evening of April 8 and woke up in the early hours to watch the first sunrise of the holiday together as we always did.

"I was in the bathroom when an intruder climbed over a wall and onto our balcony.

"My 11-year-old daughter, Millina, was sitting there at the time.

"She ran screaming into the apartment and the intruder followed her. His face was masked and he was holding a machete."

Redmond, who has been doing Kung Fu for five years, then grabbed the man and put him in an arm lock and Mr Lee wrestled him to the ground and managed to throw him out onto the balcony and he ran off.
