Four family members appeared at Maidstone Crown Court today, Monday, accused of the murder of father-of-five Jack Treeby and attempted murder of Gary Treeby.

Jack Treeby's brother Bill Treeby, 49, and his wife Charity, 50, were in the dock with their sons Billy, 29, and George, 22, all of Queen Street, Paddock Wood.

Jack Treeby, 43, from Rainham, died from multiple head and chest injuries after an incident in Quarry Road, Maidstone, on December 27. Gary Treeby, 39, was treated in hospital for gunshot wounds.

Jack, Gary and Bill Treeby are brothers and Billy and George Treeby are Jack and Gary Treeby’s nephews.

The couple and two sons, flanked by four dock officers, spoke only to confirm their names during the brief hearing at the packed court.

Judge Andrew Patience QC remanded them in custody until April 9, when they will enter pleas to the charges. A provisional trial date was set for September 27.
