POLICE have released this image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the theft of a elderly woman's handbag.

The 73-year-old victim was in the kitchen of a friend's house in Shenley Road, Smarden, when a car drove up and two men entered the kitchen.

They were told to leave but one of the men asked for a glass of water, at which point the woman noted down the registration number of the men's car.

As soon as she had done this, one of the men grabbed the victim's handbag before they ran out of the house and drove off.

The man pictured is described as white, aged 30-40, 5ft 10in tall, and of thin build. He had short hair, was unshaven and was wearing navy tracksuit bottoms, a navy Addidas tracksuit top and trainers.

The second man was also white, aged between 30 and 40, 5ft 11in tall and of stocky build. He was clean shaven with a round face and thick lips.

Anyone with information about this theft, which took place at about 1.15pm on Wednesday, September 20, is asked to contact police on 01233 896286 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
