An England football star will be in Kent later to congratulate pupils on their GCSE success.

Fulham striker Bobby Zamora is going to present children at The New School at West Heath, in Sevenoaks, with their certificates at a ceremony tonight.

The former West Ham player(left), said: "It's a pleasure to be able to spend some time with the young people at West Heath School and to support their achievements. I know how important it is to receive encouragement while you're growing up, and to play a small part in helping these students enjoy their evening is something I'm very happy about.

"I know that our Chairman, Mohamed Al Fayed, is especially fond of this school, so it's great that I am able to show some support tonight."

The school used to be known as West Heath Girls School and counts Princess Diana among its former pupils.

Mohamed Al Fayed bought the school a year after Diana's death in a car crash along with his son, as a tribute to her memory and it now looks after children with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
