Emergency landing for historic plane

A plane was forced to make an emergency landing in the middle of a cow field.

The aircraft, thought to be a historic Tiger Moth biplane, came down in a field off Headcorn Road, Staplehurst, yesterday (Friday).

No-one was injured, although the plane suffered damage to its front end.

The incident caused some confusion for police, who were called this morning after a member of the public saw the plane and thought the crash may be very recent.

Officers were sent to investigate, but its owners were already in the process of trying to move it from the field using tractors.

Malcolm Clary, from Staplehurst, said: "I was walking my dog and saw it. I asked one of the guys if the pilot was ok and he said he'd walked away from it.

"I'm just glad no-one was hurt."
