Embarrassed dad rescued from tree

A dad got stuck up a tree and had to be rescued by firefighters, after he climbed it to retrieve a remote-controlled toy helicopter.

The dad, who has not been named, was out on Sunday morning with his two boys on Jacksons Field, Rochester.

The trio were flying their new toy when it got wedged in branches in a large oak tree.

The dad managed to climb up to retrieve it, but couldn’t get back down again.

A crew from Strood fire station was sent out to rescue the man at about 11am.

A spokesman said: “Luckily, the boys had a mobile phone and were able to call us for help.

“We arrived and put a ladder up the trunk and he was able to climb down.

“He was very grateful, albeit a bit embarrassed.
