Elderly man dies after van hits concrete post

A 71-year-old man died after the LDV Convoy box van he was driving struck a concrete post in a Kent car park on Monday morning.

The tragedy happened at about 8.15am in Friary Place, Strood, near Rochester.

The victim, who was from Swanley, was taken to Gillingham's Medway Maritime Hospital but he later died.

Police do not yet know the cause of the crash.
