Drivers hurt in two-car smash

TWO young men were injured when their cars, a VW Bora and a Proton, were involved in a collision on the A2070 at Ivychurch, near New Romney.

One driver was trapped in his vehicle and both were taken to the William Harvey Hospital at Ashford.

A 20-year-old man from the Snodland, near Rochester, who was driving the Proton, sustained serious injuries and his condition is described as stable.

The VW driver, a 28-year-old man from Brookland, near New Romney, sustained injuries to his leg and shoulder.

The incident happened on Monday at about 5.30pm. The road was closed until around 8.45pm.

Kent Police have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact Tenterden Police Station on 01580 763900.
