Driver injured in M20 crash

A CAR driver was injured in a motorway collision which caused traffic misery for many hundreds of motorists.

Emergency crews were called to the incident involving three vehicles on the coast bound carriageway of the M20 near Junction 4 at Leybourne on Saturday.

Firefighters from Larkfield and Halling used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof of a blue Vauxhall Cavalier that had hit the central barrier.

The driver was taken to Maidstone Hospital where he was treated for suspected spine injuries.

The carriageway was closed for about 30 minutes causing queues of traffic to build up as far back as the M26.

The road was fully reopened at about 2pm. There were no other reported injuries.
