An injured woman had to be freed from the wreckage of her car after the accident, which happened at around 3.30pm.

It is thought the two cars collided with the back of the bus.

Emergency services were called and police closed part of the road where it meets Upper Luton Road.

Firefighters helped paramedics free a woman driver from her car as a precaution. It was suspected she had spinal and pelvic injuries.

It is not thought anyone else was hurt.

A spokesman for Medway fire station said: "We had to help get the woman who was in her 30s out of her car.

"We did this by cutting the roof from her car, a Vauxhall Corsa, and helped paramedics lift her out of the car on a longboard.

"She was then taken to hospital and all in all we were on the scene for about an hour."
