A LORRY driver who fled the scene of a serious road accident is being sought by police.

Officers are appealing for information about the crash in Ash Road, Hartley, near Longfield, at around 12.30pm on Thursday.

A white Ford Transit drop side lorry collided with a gold Proton Satria. The lorry driver abandoned the vehicle and ran from the scene.

Police say the driver and 91-year-old female passenger of the car were initially trapped in the vehicle but the woman, who suffered minor injuries, was later able to get out.

The elderly passenger had to be cut free and suffered more serious injuries. Both were taken to Darent Valley Hospital and their condition is described as stable.

Sgt Kurt Bowen said: "This was a frightening collision for the car driver and passenger.

"We are very keen to trace the driver of the Transit and would urge them to think about their actions and come forward and speak to police."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 01732 379217 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
